I failed as a son.

I failed as a brother.

I’m failing as a father. I’m failing as a father.

I fail, fail and fail again as a partner.

I’ve failed friends.

I’ve failed colleagues.

I’ve failed myself.

I’m not failing at failure though.

I’m winning at that.

  1. No you are not! We all feel like that., I know I do, lots!! You are doing great….keep going Mr xxxxxxx Philllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll you are ace! 😘

  2. You can’t judge failure until the results are in. Your aim as a father is to get your kids to be able to flourish in the world, to have some grounding and common sense. Wisdom and humour. They should be respectful and respected whilst putting both into perspective. You seem to be doing alright on most counts.

Perhaps you’re viewing yourself as a failure because your standards are too high. You don’t fail a marathon because you don’t get a place on the podium. Being a brother should be viewed in the same way. The race isn’t over; you’re still in it. That particular race has had obstacles in the way which you seem (to everyone else) to have handled reasonably well.

I don’t know what standards you’re measuring yourself against but you’re not doing too badly on my scale. (Though you have forgotten my last 18 birthdays.)

  3. Failure only happens when you stop trying. Please don’t give up. Feel free to reach out if you need to talk. You’re not alone! I have had these feelings myself.

  4. You don’t look like a failure to me. I can see all the things you HAVE achieved. xx

  5. Ok…so i really liked this post as posts go and it is so touching. I’ve read it probably five times since you posted it and it is beautiful…BUT…(!)

…if this is you genuinely saying you are a failure then I liked it not so much.

The comments already made here unanimously agree that you are not a failure. I don’t believe you are either…far from it.

If we were to ask your brother, father, children to describe you I very much doubt ‘failure’ would come into it. Your perception of yourself is way to harsh…that is if you are actually writing it from a reflective perspective.

Personally, I think you’re intelligent, funny af, a grafter, sensitive, a provider, committed, doing your absolute best…a failure??? Nope, these are not the traits of a loser.

Life might be particularly hard at the moment but just know that the one thing you’re actually failing in is being a failure…and I hope you’re ok.
