The Middle Classes…

I hate the Middle Classes.

The way they recycle with a nod to their crowd.

As though a plastic tofu box has saved the earth for all.

I hate the Middle Classes.

The way they vote to the left with a sense of righteousness.

As though choosing equality confirms some misguided superiority.

I hate the Middle Classes.

The way they speak with a tone of the disingenuous.

As though they’re tolerating you behind a mask of derision.

I hate the Middle Classes.

The way they mate, procreate and communicate.

As though they’re members of some sacred old world order.

I hate the Middle Classes.

The way they move through life like sheep driving Volvos.

As though waiting for death is the only way to really live.

I hate the Middle Classes.

The way they’re party to a system that keeps them down.

As though middle is a rung on some ladder of perceived achievement.

I hate the Middle Classes.

The way I was born into their sensible shoe masses.

As though I’m supposed to be like them and not like me.

A much better depiction of the class system in the UK can be seen in this classic comedy clip.

The Class System

My last attempt at poetry seems to have hit the mark with many. If you haven’t yet read it, it’s available through the link below.
