About

It’s hard to write about who I am as I really have no idea. Perhaps writing this blog will help me to work it out. In the meantime here’s an interview I just carried out with myself full of the kind of killer questions for which I am far from famous:

Phill Slater (Interviewer):

Thanks for agreeing to this interview, I know your time is precious, could you start by telling the readers a little bit about who the ‘real’ Phill Slater is?

Phill Slater (Interviewee):

Well let’s start with clearing up an inaccuracy in my question to myself. My time is not precious, I am currently unemployed and therefore have more spare moments than I know what to do with. It’s one of the reasons I thought I’d have a go at doing a blog. That and so that when the mother of my children comes home from one of her two jobs and catches me at my keyboard I can pretend I am looking for work.

Phill Slater (Interviewer):

So the ‘real’ Phill Slater is a good for nothing layabout incapable of an open and honest relationship with the hardworking mother of his children?

Phill Slater (Interviewee):

I prefer to be described as being skilled in keeping the peace in a long term living arrangement with somebody of a different gender.

Phill Slater (Interviewer):

What would the mother of your children say if you described yourself as that in her presence?

Phill Slater (Interviewee):

She would use a slang word for the male genitalia, followed by the word; ‘head’.

Phill Slater (Interviewer):

Moving on, tell me a bit more about your children?

Phill Slater (Interviewee):

I have two boys, Charlie and Max. They are currently thirteen and eleven. Charlie is my hero. He’s kind, curious, courageous, loving and creative. Max is none of those things but he is the funniest person in the world, he’s also my best friend.

Phill Slater (Interviewer):

They sound amazing. What about your likes and dislikes?

Phill Slater (Interviewee):

Not the most original of questions but here goes:

Likes – Toast, drinking, writing nonsense, the company of people who sparkle, kindness and Liverpool FC.

Dislikes – Myself (more of that in the blog posts).

Phill Slater (Interviewer):

Ok, last question. Give me one word you’d use to describe yourself?

Phill Slater (Interviewee):

Turnip.
